The VITAL project proposes a combination of advanced information and communication technologies that uses a familiar device such as a TV or mobile phone as the main vehicle for the delivery of services to elderly users in a home environment.

Choice based lettings is a way of allocating housing through choice, giving you a greater say in where you live. Durham key options is the name of the partnership developing choice based letting for County Durham.
Derwentside currently has a total of £7million deposited with three of the Icelandic banks (Glitnir, Landsbanki and Kaupthing, Singer & Friedlander) that have gone into administration or receivership. £5million of this was due to mature on or before the 28th October but the likelihood of these funds being returned remains uncertain at this time. All of the investments were made during 2006 and 2007.
